Associate Student Pastor

POSITION PURPOSE

The Associate Student Pastor is responsible for the spiritual growth and development of First Colleyville students through our disciple-making pathway. He carries out our mission of leading students to know and follow Jesus through the following 3 roles: 

  1. As a LEADER OF LEADERS, he nurtures and grows our leadership pipeline and ensures every volunteer leader is equipped and passionate about our Jesus and our mission.
  2. As a CONNECTOR, he draws students in, working alongside staff to maintain ministry systems to accomplish the following:
  • Onboard and capture new students in our pathway
  • Ensure all students are connected to an adult leader who knows, cares, and challenges them with the scriptures. 
  • Maintain a relational connection in and out of the church building.
  1. As a SHEPHERD, he uses Biblical truth to help create an atmosphere where students want to belong. He builds rapport with students and families to equip them with Biblical truth and be available for pastoral care concerns.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

  • Must be living an “above reproach” lifestyle as outlined in the First Colleyville Employee Handbook
  • Must have skills in administration and leadership
  • 2+ years of student ministry experience required
  • Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in related fields from an accredited Bible college or seminary
  • Must have experience in a large church setting
  • Must be a maturing believer who is pursuing sanctification and the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
  • Handles conflict with others in the ministry in accordance with Matthew 18:15-20.
  • Must embrace our church’s doctrinal position and constitution without reservation and be an advocate of our philosophy of ministry both in public and in private.
  • Knows and follows the policies in the Student Safety Handbook and holds our fellow leaders accountable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist and lead in all students programming, Connect Groups, events, trips, leadership development, teaching and preaching, outreach, vision and mission.  
  • Initiate new ways to recruit and onboard volunteers.
  • Assist in teaching, curriculum, planning, etc.
  • Lead the Student Ministries Team with oversight of the Student Pastor.
  • Oversee administrative and structural development to help in the pursuit of the Student Ministry vision and mission. 
  • Must go through the Grow Series and multiply his life by making disciples who make disciples.
  • Must enjoy working in a structured environment with K.R.A.s (Key Result Areas), W.I.G.s (Wildly Important Goals) and Quarterly Reviews.

  • Must be a Christ follower 
  • Must be living an “above reproach” lifestyle as outlined in the Employee Handbook 
Commitment
  • Must be committed to and supportive of the authority of the Lead Pastor, Senior Leadership Team, Lead Student Pastor and the philosophy and direction of the church, both in public and in private 
  • Must work scheduled hours each week as unto the Lord 
  • Must be a faithful steward of work, time and budget, with awareness that First Colleyville employees are paid from the tithes and offerings of others 
Competency 
  • The ideal candidate has the spiritual gifts of leading with zeal and administration. (Romans 12; 1 Corinthians 12) 
  • Must be flexible and adaptable and exhibit a good attitude when issues or changes arise.
  • Must have the ability to multitask 
Chemistry 
  • Must be dependable, humble, and approachable
  • Must be friendly, welcoming, and compassionate
  • Must be able to get along with other ministries within the church 
  • Must be able to receive direction and correction - a joy to supervise
